Meet the planters —
Church planting pastor Owen Parsley is originally from a farm southeast of Flandreau, SD and grew up near this community for much of his early life. After graduating high school, he went to the Free Lutheran Bible College (formerly AFLBS) in Plymouth, MN for general Bible studies and then, after graduation, attended SDSU for history education. Once graduated from college, Owen taught social studies and coached XC and T&F for twelve years at Flandreau Public High School. He also led and continues to work with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) in Flandreau, SD. After stepping away from teaching in the spring of 2025, Owen pursued an occupation in real estate as a licensed agent and also started seminary classes at the Center for Missional and Pastoral Leadership (CMPL) and the Institute of Lutheran Theology (ILT). Owen and his wife Rachel Parsley were married in the fall of 2014 and they have four children Edith, Zion, Finn, and Sully. Owen enjoys coffee, playing drums and other instruments, coaching, working out, snowboarding, going on walks, reading, playing Uno, and laughing with his family.
The Parsleys truly care about Flandreau and have a heart to share Jesus with this community. In the spring of 2024, the Parsleys started a Bible study and gathering of individuals for an eventual church plant in town. This gathering, and now church, strives for law and gospel centered preaching and teaching, and the fulfillment of people brought together in daily Christian community. May Living Water Church be a light for the Lord bringing Him glory, and also a welcoming place where we sinners can find joy, mercy, and grace every day in the salvation and life Jesus gives!
